In a modern world where everything happens fast and makes you feel exhausted, it’s a relief to experience something without the need to hurry. And when I stepped inside Vieux Chalet, I felt at home.
That comforting, peaceful and familiar feeling that they’ve already perfected for more than 3 decades.
Vieux Chalet, which means “Home on top of a Mountain“, is a fine dining Swiss restaurant in Antipolo.
It was in 1984 that Mr. Tony Hassig and Mrs. Susan Hassig opened their home to offer people an escape from the city noise and stresses.
Thus the feeling when I got there.
And personally, here are the 8 things about Vieux Chalet that won my heart.
1. Vieux Chalet Offers Stunning Skyline View
Nothing compares to nature’s beauty.
Imagine dining here with your special someone, while seeing the blue skies and the trees surrounding you. Isn’t it romantic? Won’t you feel special?
I remember the picturesque view of Taal volcano while having breakfast at Bag of Beans Twin Lakes.
2. Fine Swiss Cuisine (and Big Servings!)
Their passion to serve good food reflects on the quality of each meal they serve.
We ordered their prefix Menu 1, 4 course meal, worth 1,400 pesos. Also, we ordered for 5 Cheese Pizza, Ricotta Cheesecake with mixed berry confit, Calamansi and Honey Cooler, and Calamanturis Soda.
Raclette is a famous dish in Switzerland. It was derived from the French word “racler” which means “to scrape“.
Because the process of creating this dish involves scraping the melted cheese onto the plate.
Vieux Chalet’s 5 Cheese Pizza is a must try for cheese lovers!
I and my boyfriend almost finished all the 8 slices. But the Pasta Tartufo and the Chicken a la Tony already filled up our tummies.
Until now, I still regret leaving the last slice.
3. Vieux Chalet Cares for the Environment
Since this family business started by wanting to share their lives and happiness with other people, no wonder why they care this much for the environment.
Using stainless straws help in reducing solid wastes. Wherein non-biodegradable wastes, like straws, were able to end animal lives.
4. Vieux Chalet also Cares for Street Children
Upon entering their gate, you will see a tarpaulin about “Chits“.
The establishment encourages their customers to give the street children/ parkers chits, instead of cash.
Children may exchange those chits to Vieux Chalet with food or items that they can use in school or at home.
This program aims to ensure that the street kids will spend their money wisely and discourage smoking and drinking of minors.
Also, Vieux Chalet wants to make sure that these kids were not used by strong and capable adults.
Thank you Vieux Chalet for setting an example, that we are all capable of doing good. Despite the extra work load this program entails, you chose to do the right thing! 🙂

I would like to commend Kuya Rico and Marian for making us feel welcomed and comfortable all throughout our stay.
First, we were welcomed by Kuya Rico with a huge smile. Then we were assisted to our seats, and orders were taken immediately.
After serving our orders, either Marian or Kuya Rico will visit our table to ask if we needed something.
And lastly, Marian assisted us upon leaving. She made sure we enjoyed our dining experience.

What’s not to love about this place? It definitely won my heart in all aspects.
Not just good food and great ambience, but their strong sense of social responsibility made me love this restaurant all the more.
Restaurants like this and Van Gogh is Bipolar deserve our support and patronage.
